Natalie Portman Natalie Portman was born on June 9, 1981. Her real name is Natalie Hershiag and she is an acclaimed Israeli American actress. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Harvard College. Portman started her career when she was quite young. At age four she was already performing with the local troupes as a dancer. She was quite an ambitious kid who worked hard to achieve what she wanted. During her school holidays, she attended theater camps where she auditioned for various roles. She acted in the school plays. Her first ever professional role was in the film Luc Besson where she was to play the role of a child who befriends a hit man. This film which premiered in the year 1994 put her in the limelight at only thirteen years of age. She also appeared on television in the same year where she acted in a short film referred to as Developing.

Between 1995 and 1999 was when her career picked up. She had various roles is such movies as ‘Heat’, ‘Mars Attack’ as well as ‘Everyone Says I Love You’. She also had a major acting role in the Movie ‘Beautiful Girls’. In the year 1997, she stared in the film ‘The Diary of Anne Frank. She played the role of Anne frank. She is known to have rejected to star in a project which involved a sex scene. It was only after it was rewritten that she agreed to join the project.

She received nomination for the ‘Best supporting actress’ due to the remarkable role she played of Ann august. Many reviewers term her as astonishing because she is not like the other actors her age who are either maudlin or plucky. In the late 1990′s she acted in the film “The Star Wars Prequel trilogy”. She also played a lead role as a teenage mother in the movie ‘Where the heart is’.

She took a break in 1999 so as to completely concentrate on her studies. This she did after acting The Star Wars Prequels. In 2002 during the summer breaks she acted in the second episode of Star Wars. She also had additional productions in London. In 2001, she opened in a theater production of The Seagull, by Chekhov. She was also among the many celebrities who made appearances in the comedy Zoolander.

Natalie Portman has been a vegetarian since she was born. She also advocates for the right of animals and does not wear clothes made with any animal product. She is set to launch her own line of vegan footwear. She has also been involved in environmental conservation activities and groups such as World Patrol Kids and the One Voice Movement groups.
